RE: First Manchester
Its a shame Oldham Depot are again struggling with vehicles availability although with a lack of investment/transfers over the past couple of years I'm not surprised to be honest.

The last new buses I think to Oldham Depot were the Enviro300 & Enviro400s and the 2 Geminis that are being used as Spare Vantage vehicles. I'd love Oldham to get some replacements for some of the older Geminis but can't see it happening with the situation with franchising looming on the horizon.

First Manchester's Oldham depot are going on strike on Monday and Tuesday (10-11th January). Also applies to school and yellow bus services but Vantage will continue to operate from the Bolton depot.

Can imagine a few passengers will be annoyed and a lot of people being caught out at the short notice with only a few days notice and only being announced on Friday afternoon.

Industrial action at Oldham depot on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 January

First Manchester has confirmed that industrial action at its Oldham depot on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 January 2022 means no services will be operating on both days. This includes school services and the Yellow School Bus.

The Vantage V1 and V2 services based at a depot in Bolton for routes from Leigh and Atherton to Manchester Royal Infirmary are unaffected.

Ian Humphreys, Managing Director of First Manchester, said: “I would like to apologise sincerely to all our customers for the disruption and inconvenience this will cause.

“We have been holding extensive talks with union representatives over the last few days and made every attempt to avoid industrial action, especially given the short notice this creates for our customers to make alternative travel arrangements.”

He added: “We are extremely disappointed that Unite the Union have chosen this course of action at a time when our efforts are focused on protecting jobs and maintaining services for the travelling public.”

First Manchester is continuing discussions with Unite representatives to resolve the dispute and prevent any further industrial action, which the union has notified is planned for later in January.

Interesting that there’s no school buses during the strike. Most are TFGM contracts and would have thought there was an obligation to run them, GNW ran all their tenders during their strike, all were run by them and not the outside contractors just very surprised there not running.

Most probably coach firms who do continental trips that have been cancelled due to covid restrictions etc.

Maybe first management don't want to poke the fire by trying to run any buses out of Oldham. They could of ran some schools out of Bolton. it not rare for this to happen stagecoach South Lancs did not plan to run buses don't think they planned to run school also.
