Little mention in the Vision Bus thread, although no mention on TfGM website yet, but Vision Bus will be running two new circular routes from this Sunday (25th July), which sees more services serving Logistics North. The routes are reportedly commercial, as they seem to duplicate part of some Diamond's routes in Bolton (along with 521, which Vision run). Services 580 and 581 will run circular routes with service 581 running clockwise via Royal Bolton Hospital, Highfield, Logistics North and Four Lane Ends, while service 580 runs in the opposite direction. Services will run along the same route as service 582 between Bolton and Four Lane Ends, services 20/521 between Four Lane Ends and Logistics North, service 521 between Logistics North and Highfield and service 501 between Royal Bolton Hospital and Bolton. Services will run every 30 minutes each way Monday-Saturday daytime and every hour Sunday daytime. Only time will tell on these. Although I wonder whether manchester will get an alton towers service, or whether it’s merely that one of the northbound saturday x1s will position off the x71 (it currently often runs light to/from the airport anyway!). As for the route of the x1, the introduction of the viewing park suggests that the 88 route is the one it will duplicate from the airport. |

I think we can be confident that the X1 won't serve Morley Green or provide a link from Altrincham to Wilmslow, so I don't think there's a real risk of it being seen as competing with the subsided 88. However, it does appear to be confirmation that the service will provide a link between Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Manchester Airport. That shouldn't prevent Wilmslow-Colshaw Farm-Handforth operating but it might mean the airport call has to go if it continues to Wythenshawe. I think the route out of Macclesfield will be key for whether it affects the 130 - the hospital and Alderley Park could be seen as places which have a need for bus links to Macclesfield and Wilmslow. If the X57 times at the airport remain at similar times to the current times then we can expect a morning peak X1 from Macclesfield to Manchester Airport at a similar time to the peak time 130 and the reverse in the evening peak. We also know from the past that CEC won't contract subsided journeys on a route just because the commercial service is only roughly 2 hourly. |

I could be way off but I wouldn’t be surprised if the first northbound service is one connecting with the 1055 departure from the airport. As I mentioned earlier or on another thread, hulleys seem very good at interworking, but they don’t appear to have a resource free to do a morning peak journey at present. But they do have an ashbourne am school contract that fits well with the 1055. |

It would be a spectacular own goal to get rid of the 130 because of potentially 4 or 5 return journeys a day on a service that isn't all stops, disadvantaging intermediate passengers between Macc and Wilmslow, not mention the Wilmslow - Handforth section which has picked up patronage wise recently. Handforth - Wythenshawe could be sacrificed though, as it's very lightly loaded, so a one bus saving could be achieved there. That always was a daft idea. That extra bus should have been used to reinstate the Handforth - Cheadle link and push it on to East Didsbury, still maintaining a facility to Wythenshawe changing onto the 368 at Heald Green. A victim of this could well be the 109, by just extending the 108 to Leek, Sainsburys it could go. We'll see when the TT appears. |

If the 108 has enough slack to be extended to rudyard as a one bus operation, the 109 could be dropped if the x1 calls all stops lyme green to leek. |

There's apparently a law which states councils can't use money to subside services if there's a competing commercial service. Both Cheshire West and Cheshire East councils have withdrawn subsided routes due to inferior commercial services being registered. TfGM seem to interpret the same law differently and have had evening contracted services with a first journey before the last commercial journey. The current 130 is being funded on a trial basis. It would be much cheaper to fund a Handforth to Alderley Edge shuttle, with peak time extensions to Macc via Alderley Park if needed. The thing to note is even if CEC do nothing they might find D&G come to them saying revenue has dropped on the 130 due to the X1 and they can't continue to run it at the same frequency for the same subsidy. While some people don't want to hear it some of the 130 bus users only choose the bus over a more frequent, faster train because the government gives them a free bus pass. These are the same people who think the bus should continue to Manchester as they want to get to Manchester for free, not because they can't get on a train at Alderley Edge/Wilmslow/Handforth. I'm sure there must also be people who live in Alderley Edge who think why do the buses go to Handforth and Wilmslow when I can get the train there but they don't go to Prestbury, Knutsford or Altrincham. |

X1 maybe offered funding if other routes are cut as the 201/X1 used to get it. |
