I don't see why they cannot be used on schools and Rail Replacement work if a company is willing to pay for modifications ie. screen fitment. NX or Megabus would never buy second hand coaches so your point with that one doesn't make much sense either.

Megabus and NX use 3rd party`s when they cant run services. MP travel use 2nd hand coaches on Megabus M11 at weekends they now have a new coach for this mind you but did start with 2nd hand. now they cant hire in coaches without being wheelchair accessible. On RR they need permit but this is till end of year and they have to be only used once they are 100% sure they cant find a wheelchair accessible. They are more likey now to just hire mini buses from taxi firms.

The mod for a wheelchair lift is not cheap.

has always been shortsighted for anyone over last few years to buy non wheelchair accessible.

Shearings/National Holidays missed a selling point by having coaches with lifts due to age of customers

None of Shearings Holidays Coaches actually were owned by them but a leasing company , it seems the whole company in the last few years was about leasing just about everything. A business model that works when everything falls into place but when a shock to the system like the Coronavirus Pandemic comes along falls apart.

So its the Leasing company that has repossessed the vehicles and is now trying to obtain some money back for them while they can to offset there losses.

Coronavirus will collect more casualties on the way , this company wont be the only one to feel the wrath of it.

They use 3rd parties all the time. I'm not sure if it's still the case but Selwyns/Haytons used to have NX branded vehicles, vehicles with their own branding and some plain vehicles with their legal lettering. I think the latter were vehicles which had been retired from regular NX work but on occasions could return to NX if there was a shortage of vehicles or if a special event mean duplicate services were required, as they had a destination display they could put Selwyns or Haytons on it if the vehicles were being used for private hire work.

Indeed. It may also mean some operators who are financially secure are able to increase their market share as the result of competitors disappearing.

Leger holidays picking up a brand name which to all intents and purposes is so well known countrywide. So at least the name for the time being marches on .

As you say now its the survival of the fittest now . You just have to look at whats gone on the high street in the last few years , its a rebalancing of the economy.

Bit of a update National Holidays brand saved by Just Go

G Travel Group, which includes Just Go! Holidays and Omega Breaks, has acquired the National Holidays brand and database from the administrators of Specialist Leisure Group (SLG). The purchase will help the group to expand its presence in the north of England.

JG Travel Group says its National Holidays programme will use coach operators from the same regions that tours were delivered from previously. It aims to “take the essence” of the brand and replicate it, the Cheltenham-based group says in a statement. The initial National Holidays selection for 2021 will be announced soon.

Adds Chairman and CEO Luis Arteaga: “The addition of the brand will enable the JG Travel Group to become the leader in over-60s group travel in the UK, particularly for tours, events and theatre shows by coach.

“The value for money and diversity of products that the JG Travel Group brands will offer are unmatched by the rest of the UK travel industry. National Holidays will help us to grow our presence in the north of England and complement the already strong market penetration that both Just Go! and Omega have in the rest of the country.”

The product will be delivered by third-party operators, adds JG Travel Group Director of Product and Operations Paul Mason. “We will be working with a number of coach operators throughout the National Holidays sales regions. Some we work with already, but we will be very happy to hear from others.

“There is a big opportunity for coach operators here. The majority of National Holidays departures were operated by its in-house fleet, but we have no intention of owning vehicles ourselves. We like to work with coach industry professionals to deliver our product.”

Larger suppliers will be required to run some of their fleet carrying National Holidays branding, says Mr Mason.

SLG ceased trading on 22 May after the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic causes “a significant cash shortfall.” The Shearings brand, database and customer website were purchased by Leger in June.

The trading names and databases of customers was all the administrators had to get value out of the company.

Any idea about Stretton and Normanton Interchanges ?

All other interchanges happened to be on service areas and in the case of Gretna Green on a third parties land .
