Just did a search of Burnham's Twitter feed and there's been no tweets which mention either 'new trains' or 'CAF'.

On the other hand Tim Farron's Twitter feed is a lot more balanced. He criticised Northern for all the cancellations on the Lakes Line but has welcomed the brand new trains.

I find tim farron to be very personable and can get thinks done , what he managed with WCR was nothing short of incredible on the Oxenholme to Windermere line , he knew without the trains the economy of the lakes would take a nosedive .

Most liberal democrats are very good and proactive , unlike some of the other parties who just seem to think they just have to turn up to be elected.

Lib Dems don't really have safe seats so unlike the other parties they can't just send someone the party wants in Westminster to a random safe seat when it becomes vacant like the Conservatives putting Esther McVey forward as Tatton candidate.

Farron also refused to vote in favour of certain Conservative policies during the coalition, which was one of the main reasons he became leader. Unfortunately, Andrew Neil and a few others thought they saw an opportunity to make a name for themselves when discovering Farron is a church goer who believes their teaching that sexual intercourse is for the sole purpose of reproduction and of course that means there's no way of gay people having sex in a way which the church finds acceptable.

The Telegraph are reporting Northern will be split in Northern West and Northern East which could both be under public control by the end of March.

RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North)
From TfN:

The new timetable commenced on 15 December 2019. Operators have
reported that the integrity and structure of the timetable appears to be
working, however a number of different issues have led to
unacceptably poor levels of performance. Transport for the North has
made it clear to operators that they need to step up and deliver
greater certainty and better information to passengers.

For Northern; an increase in staff sickness has contributed to a
reduction in performance by around 5%. Northern have said that
sickness levels will improve over the coming weeks, however the
reintroduction of the driver training programme in January will continue
to put pressure on performance.

For TPE; significant poor performance on the North and West Coast
routes has compounded pre-planned cancellations that were
implemented prior to the timetable change. Technical issues with new
CAF rolling stock, challenges around increased maintenance and delays
to driver training have led to an unacceptably poor service. Transport
for the North has been clear that TPE needs to focus on delivering a
more robust service to passengers and improve information flows.

RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North)
How the hell can they the service works when TPE have not come anywhere near running a full service?
And Northern's cancellations have been running at about twice what they were in the last week of the old timetable?

RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North)
What i would like to see answered is why there was such a drop in the service between 23 December and 24th December , something else im sure of it affected the Christmas Eve services and it wasnt just Sickness as they would have decimated the previous days service which wasnt anywhere near as bad.
