Noted on SKM Media is that Stagecoach London have put up for disposal 36330-37.
Are they from the same batch as 36314-19?

They're 58-reg like 36314-9 but are dual door

Why didn't Stagecoach make more use of the X3 like having it extended to Wigan etc.

Stagecoach have made a great success with others in the "X" series, ie X2 (both Preston and Chester), x5 and x8.

There is so much that they can do with it. The issue is there is nothing exclusive about it. When you are deciding which bus to take, the X3 isn’t really faster, isnt cheaper, has no exclusive links. Why would you wait an hour for the X3 when you have the 20/21 every 6 mins, 19s every 10 mins and 14As every half hour.

Extending it is the only way it will make money. You don’t want to put more buses onto a non profitable route though as that then becomes a big gamble. If they put the same amount of advertising effort into the X3 as they have the X5 and 204, it would be booming. No advertisements, no exclusive links. No reason to use it.

Maybe because Kirkby & the edge of Wigan are separated by several miles of sparsely populated countryside (i.e. unprofitable, near-zero traffic potential) ??

Skem and Orrell? Gives Stagecoach Wigan users a cheaper alternative to Arriva and buying two tickets

Do you think Stagecoach are going to start running over Arriva territory and risk a bus war? Also, how many buses would be needed to maintain an hourly frequency at least? If it was thought that there would be a market for bus passengers travelling to Liverpool from Wigan via Skem, it would have been done by now. The train from Wigan to Liverpool only takes 30 minutes - much quicker!
