At least it's a decker. Three years ago a batch of new Enviro400s was bought for this route and now we're back to Cadets.

The vehicle's age isn't really the issue. As long as it's DDA compliant, is mechanically sound and is in reasonable condition internally it's good to go.

Unless there is a radical change of policy by Arriva nationally, the age profile is only going to get older.

All of not most of the cadets either refurbished or about to get refurbished tells us that age profiles are going to get older. Buses will be kept hold of longer, so time to get used to being on an older bus.

An old bus is better than no bus.

Absolutely. I have been on a few of the Wythenshawe ones and the seating is/was as good as anything else locally - far better than the threadbare 10yo Enviro400s of Stagecoach at Hyde Road.

To add to Barney’s comment

Think of what orders have been placed this year, absolutely nothing apart from a few down south if I remember rightly but have since been cancelled. If there’s no order to replace older stock or replace cascades, then nothing will get withdrawn unless damage structurally or mechanicaly is financially unviable.
