RE: Merseyrail
There is major signalling problems this morning between Hooton and Birkenhead Central , services are running only between Liverpool and Chester and a rail shuttle service is in operation between Hooton and Ellesmere Port .

I do wonder whether this is a heat related issue .

Probably could have been as the Ormskirk and Kirkby lines were disrupted on Friday evening because of a track fault in the Kirkdale area cause by the rails buckling in the heat. Replacement bus services were laid on between Sandhills /Walton and Sandhills/Rice Lane.

RE: Merseyrail
Lineside has caused the service to New Brighton to terminate on arrival at Birkenhead North. It seems a lot of lineside's are now quite tinder box conditions.

For certain parts of this country the Met-Office has said that the Hetwave conditions will last another 14 days .

Nor surprised, whilst the other lines still have some greenery the New Brighton area just looks very very burnt

RE: Merseyrail
Merseytravel have agreed to have a second person on every Merseyrail service post 2021 but have not guaranteed the second person will be a guard or that existing guards will keep their role or salary (only that they will retain their employment) and the exact details for funding the second person aren't finalised but they will include fare hikes. However, Mick Cash has called it a significant development.

Rumour circulating on Twitter that passengers will pay an extra 15p on single tickets and up to 30p on return/day tickets to pay to keep the second person. Regular commuters could pay up to £70 a year extra.

RE: Merseyrail
From this Saturday the South Wirral Lines will be running to a revised timetable .

The main function of this revised timetable will be to add in an extra set on the Chester line extending turnback time at Chester from 4 mins to 13 mins , the trains will have extra holding time at Rock Ferry and Birkenhead Central to enable the normal times to be adhered to in the Liverpool Loop.
