Cheshire East proposed funding cuts
RE: Cheshire East proposed funding cuts
Sounds like Route E won't be turned in to a super route, as D&G have made 3 separate registrations which relate to it.

Knutsford to Macclesfield (part subsided)
Knutsford to Northwich (fully subsided)
Knutsford to Wilmslow and then Colshaw Farm or Altrincham (part subsided)

With the Macclesfield - Knutsford service being called 88 and the Knutsford - Wilmslow - Altrincham service being 88/88A/188, it looks hopeful that they might have these as through services.
It will also be good if the 89 Northwich - Knutsford is clearly shown on timetables etc as linking with the 88/88A/188 as this was built into the design of the timetable for the E routes.

The 'design' of timetable E was poorly thought out by someone sat at a desk in the Cheshire East offices, with there being a lot of concerns about their proposed timetables and apparently operators were allowed to propose alternatives and it sounds like D&G have done just that. Whether it's all round better option remains to be seen.

The service number for Knutsford-Macclesfield could be a typo (typos and other mistakes aren't uncommon on VOSA registrations - there's one on the D&G 89 registration as well as one on the new 130 registration), if they planned to run it as a through service they didn't need to register it as a separate service and I don't think Altrincham-Wilmslow-Knutsford-Macclesfield will be too long to count as a local service for driver hours restrictions like the High Peak TP service, which has been divided in to separate registrations.

Its 28 miles by the fastest route. With all the deviations, is likely to exceed 30 miles. so, the separate registrations probably take account of that to run it on domestic hours.

Is the 85 route over 30 miles? I think that's a single registration.

RE: Cheshire East proposed funding cuts
New D&G timetables are online: http://dgbus.co.uk/buses-in-cheshire.html

The 'Route E' is more similar to the Cheshire East proposal than I thought. 88A is a Mon-Fri commercial Knutsford to Colshaw Farm via Longridge service replacing the 300 and some of the withdrawn 88 journeys. They've added in an extra 14:50 Knutsford to Macclesfield service and a 15:45 Macclesfield to Knutsford service but they've left the lengthy gap between early Altrincham-Wilmslow-Knutsford services. I thought they had left off the 18:45 Altrincham to Knutsford but it's just gone on to a page by it's own. The Northwich services will be through services from Altrincham with a route number change at Knutsford bus station.

Seems Tomlinson Travel have got part of 'Route J' and will operate it as route 316, while D&G are also running part of Route J, I wonder if D&G are going to run part of it commercially or whether Tomlinson Travel only submitted a bid for part of it.

The 317 is fully supported according to the timetable Cheshire East have published. The 316 fits in nicely with the 319 Tomlinsons are running.

All the new timetables are on this page:-

I've not looked at all the timetables but the 88/89 one only shows the contracted journeys, not the 88A commercial journeys or the additional return working between Knutsford and Macclesfield, which makes them useless for passengers.

Yes, it's just the journeys CEC have contracted out. OK on the services that are fully contracted but as you say, a bit pointless for services with some commercial journeys. Interesting to see Selwyns taking on the 391/2.

It must be the first time since pre-deregulation in 1986 that some of the services D&G have registered have run commercially - certainly the Sunday services in Crewe and probably the 38?
