I Missed out the 11, 217 and 75! The Smarts were run by Arriva NW before the takeover Smart 4 was Brunswick - Royal, Smart 5 was Aigburth - Royal eves/suns. Arriva then commercialised them all in 04 as Le Bus. The 11 was Liverpool - Stockbridge at the time, then extended to Prescot replacing the 258 in April. |

The X8 by this time was definitely a shadow of it's former self having at one point in the 90's run from Banks to Llandudno. |

I remember catching the X8 summer 96 when it went to Llandudno i've still got a Chester area timetable summer 96 somewhere, X8 North Western & X1 Crosville Wales Coastliner merged summer 96 as X8 Llandudno Junction-Banks, summer 97 it was X8 Rhyl-Banks, the Wales Coastliner section was a shadow of it's former self only operating in summer, before being permanently withdrawn after summer 97. As i've mentioned Crosville/North Western X8 Banks-Chester was split in Liverpool summer 98, Crosville operating Chester-Liverpool section which is now the Stagecoach Gold 1, & North Western Liverpool-Banks part of the Southport section hasn't been replaced as that went down Duke Street between Ainsdale & Southport, although Arrive 47 & Stagecoach X2 is near the line of the old X8. Off the top of my head the Wirral commercial network i think was 1 New Brighton-Woodside 3/3A Seacombe-Woodside 4/5 Liscard-Saughall Massie 6 New Brighton-Woodside 7/7A/8/8A New Brighton-Woodside 7A/8E New Brighton-Moreton 9 New Brighton-Woodside 10A New Brighton-Clatterbridge 10B New Brighton-Parkgate 10C New Brighton-Chester 18 Seacombe-Mill Park 33B/34B Woodside-Woodside via Seacombe-Moreton 37 Woodside-West Kirby 64A Woodside-New Ferry 407/408 Saughall Massie-Liverpool 410/411 Bromborough-Liverpool 417/418 Heswall-Liverpool 420 West Kirby-Liverpool 431/432/433/434 New Brighton-Liverpool 437 West Kirby-Liverpool 464 New Ferry-Liverpool 472 Heswall-Liverpool 488 Ness-Liverpool 472 was Monday to Friday off peak only, became 418 in the peaks with additional 417 via Irby, the Saturday 472 was operated by Crosville. A few of the Cross River routes had different numbers during off peaks than peak, as they went from Queen Square direct to the tunnels via Crosshall Street & Victoria Street off peak, whilst going via Castle Street during the peaks, 432/433 went inbound via Byrom Street & St Johns Lane to Queen Square bus station, 431/434 went via Norton Street & Lime Street, 431/432/433/434 had the same routes from Queen Square to the tunnels I do remember a short lived 510/511 Woodside-Bromborough replaced the 410/411 may have operated off peak or Saturdays only My Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/31135444@N02/ |
