It could. "Within any period of 8 hours 30 minutes, you must take at least 45 minutes in breaks. You must also have a break of at least 30 minutes at the end of this period, unless it’s the end of the working day." (https://www.gov.uk/drivers-hours/gb-domestic-rules)

By running it the way they are, they're only requiring two drivers and two buses for the whole day while being able to run in front of Arriva's 329. If they filled the stand time doing something else, they'd require further resources. Also, they can more-or-less guarantee that they'll be running on time.

The back drop will however make sure the service is reliable as we all know how bad the traffic on n winwick road can be, a reliable service does win passengers over plus when the service is doing well hourly it's just 1 Bus to increase the frequency to half hourly

How much is a Link Network day ticket? I might try to jump on tomorrow.

1. What vehicles normally operate the 110?
2. What times are the 329 this week?

They are running every 2 hours this week. The journeys which start with the 0813 from St Helens and finishes with the 1705 from Warrington. I'm presently on it as it is running the 1223 off St Helens. Driver is handing out copies of timetable.
