Stagecoach Manchester
RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
In addition to the fare rises highlighted above, Stagecoach will start to charge 50p for any new Smartcard issued. This may be to deter people from asking for a new one whenever an existing one runs out (or they forget to bring it to top up).

A few petitions have gone around students protesting the 50% rise, not gonna do much good though if Tiannemen Square didn't work then neither will that.

Which rise?? Not the flat £1 magic bus fare? Some would argue that punters outside of the city centre and more importantly the 'bus war' have subsidised their nice cheap fares for too long.

These are based on (c.) 40000+ passengers across a large part of the country (outside London), and featuring 53 large or medium Operators, albeit most are subsidiaries of the "Big Five". A (very) cursory glance suggests Passengers are generally most satisfied in Nottingham and Merseyside and least satisfied in Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire. A big surprise given their opposing reputations from inception until about 4 years ago, is that Stagecoach Manchester actually score slightly lower than First Manchester! Perhaps more significantly - Stagecoach Manchester are ranked absolutely rock bottom of the 53 for "On bus journey times".

I am very surprised that Stagecoach Manchester as come bottom!, So what gone wrong?, for them to come bottom out of 53 operators!

I share the same opinion as you for what it's worth, I buy a uni rider but most students are too cheap to buy one. It's a myth that they can't afford things they waste money on hipster tat and getting drunk.

In the past, I have seen notes showing which individual services across the country are surveyed, and one year amongst the half dozen or so in GM was the 347 - so that indicates this is a proper survey of genuine "bread and butter" services that people rely on for their everyday transport needs - not some politically inspired survey influenced by activists/councillors in trendy south Manchester suburbs.

It is but not when passengers elsewhere are charged 3 times what passengers on the Magic services are charged.
