However I traveled on the 12.06 from Hunts Cross, 508 134 it had some people standing by the time it left ( mainly because a TPE service had arrived ) and was bursting by the time it left Brunswick.

The service at the southern end of the Southport line is only every 30 minutes , the 15 minute service only kicks in from Liverpool Central on what are classed as Summer sunday's a bit different to the evening service on weekdays which is 15 minutes throughout .

Hooton long siding has been getting used more regularly over the last week.

GBRf seem to stable their biomass hoppers there, after collecting from Ellesmere Port, overnight as required, with a 66 collecting them the following evening.

Today, FL 66515 was laid up working an engineering train with a rake of points wagons.

Travel is glamorous only in retrospect.

yesterday 507018 was coupled with 508122 in the wallside siding at southport and in birkdale siding 9 was 508131 (i think) with 507017. later on 507013 suffered either a fault or failed presumably was in birkdale siding 8.

RE: Merseyrail
Some good news there that a 15 minute service was eventually provided yesterday.

The summer weekend 6 cars definitely have been reduced - by several weeks in September - over the last two years. Typically they were run until the commencement of the winter Sunday timetable, but in 2011 stopped after the first weekend in September with the Southport Air Show in July. In 2012, I believe it was the second September weekend. Some of the reduced weekends had nice weather and this led to congested trains completely unnecessarily. In 2008/09 IIRC the 6 cars started in May, albeit not always a complete line-up.

I also dont think the refurbishment has helped with the 3+2 seating being dispensed with to be replaced by the 2+2 seating , it probably doesnt amount to many seats , but the perception is less seats but better looking trains .

Extending the booking office to try and make it better to work in and less of a goldfish bowl
