Do you mean the route via Earlestown or the one via Warrington Central?

RE: Northern Rail
I dont think there is much capacity at the moment to fit freight trains on the Liverpool - Manchester via Warrington central. Trafford Park freightliner terminal takes the majority of paths up at the Manchester end of the line .

Other than these, nothing booked on the City Line.

20:07 Crewe Basford Hall - Liverpool Bulk Terminal 22:08

Freightliner

10:46 Chester - Wigan
(via Delamere, Altrincham, Stockport, Manchester Vic, Earlestown, Huyton, Tuebrook Sidings)
Network Rail Adhesion Train - As Required

What about the coal trains to and from Liverpool Bulk Terminal run by DBS and Freightliner?

Lots of info here: http://www.8arail.co.uk/Freight_Services...spots.html

Splitting hairs I think! It uses the Liverpool to Manchester line, which to me is how the question was phrased. The coal trains don't serve Lime St!

Also, when it runs, 6F78, 11:30 from Fiddlers uses the low level line via Ditton and South Parkway and runs round in Wapping sidings to gain access to the Bootle Branch.

At least one freight does use most of the length of the line, 6E14, 16:10 Seaforth to Tinsley empty steel train, which is booked to run on Fridays.

Other than the stuff into and out of Trafford Park, which only covers the bit from Trafford Park terminal to Deansgate, no there isn't.(Between Trafford Park and Liverpool South Parkway.) Occasionally there are diverted freight trains, but they are very rare.

Am i right in saying that the mix of stopping and express work on the CLC line would really make it hard for a straight through path from Allerton Jnct to Castlefields Jnct.

RE: Northern Rail
Due to a major landslip at Stainforth http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_di.../Goole.jpg Northern services will be altered quite considerably .

Northern services between Sheffield -Scarborough / Bridlington will be diverted via Selby not calling at Goole .

Northern services between Doncaster and Scunthorpe will be suspended , replacement bus services will operate adding extra time to the journey.

Network Rail have said in the local newspapers that they will not be doing anything to stabilise the line until there is no further movement in the adjacent land which is owned by the colliery , early indications say this will be like this for at least 8 weeks likely to be a lot longer though.
