In the Railway Magazine, August 1922, an unattributed article about these LNWR units was carried. From 6th February 1922 a 'reversible' or 'push-and-pull' train was in use for working locally between Manchester (Victoria) and Atherton. The featured image for this short article is the petrol motor-car used by the Croydon District Engineer of the London, Brighton, and South Coast Railway, in connection with his duties.
