Yes, I used to commute across Manchester on a daily basis. I don't know as I no longer live in the region. But given the horror stories I have heard, not just from drivers, but from family, friends and even people I used to commute on the bus with, I am glad I no longer do this. The drivers blame it on the roadworks. The non-drivers blame it on the roadworks. We've had Oxford Road, CC2, the Guided Busway, Chapel Street and so on. People are getting frustrated because as soon as one set of roadworks ends, another begins.

Yes, other cities have congestion. But Manchester is the only place I know of where buses can take 20-30 minutes just to get out of the main terminus.

And yes there has always been some form of congestion but never as bad as what I had to ndure. If it wasn't roadworks, it was because of football traffic, or a parade, or some other event. But congestion is getting worse. And that would cause fare increases because costs go up as it requires more buses and more drivers just to maintain the same level of service. Otherwise cuts have to be made in order to maintain PVR.

Sorry, but that is a very narrow-minded view Phil. That would be like someone having no sympathy for you living where you live given you know that it is congestion prone. For all I know, the friend concerns does sometimes drive the 0933 203. I don't know what rota he is on. But he does do pretty much everything, and I know does indeed go through your patch regularly. And he just puts up with whatever is thrown at him.
