Given the amount of 25-30 year old trains running round on red diesel, the Rail industry is hardly in a position to lecture on "environmental" matters. Besides, how much greener would a 12 year old single-decker be, than an ALX400. If emissions was a consideration, then the age or engine type (eg. Euro 4/5/6) would be more reelevant than the number of decks. It's not just emissions; fuel consumption must also be a considerstion? While the fuel consumption between a single and double deck may not be substantial, surely the difference between a Solo and an ALX400 is more considerable. |
