Albeit one conceded it was difficult to assess how much of the extra journey time was due to bus lane suspension, and how much due to general roadworks. I would have thought a reduction in investment as increased running time mrans additional running costs and fewer customers (so less revenue). I don't think a few BBC interviews prove anything really. It's much to early to assume these closures will have any impact on new bus orders. Certainly, Arriva haven't fought tooth and nail in recent weeks to prevent the suspensions becoming permanent - their two Pulsars with Save Our Bus Lanes wraps were repainted several weeks ago! What is more likely to see fewer new bus orders in the coming years is the relative lack of bus stock between the 51 and 54 regs. There are a lot of W, X and Y buses to see off in the next 18 months or so which would explain why the forthcoming order is so large.
