What does the government expect to get from this though this a stifling of demand , what you will find is that most people travelling in the peak hour are already using higher priced tickets from the morning peak period , another thing you will find is that the trains at the start of the evening peak and also the trains at the end of the peak period will be busier than now , this will cause the operating department of Northern more headaches than before .

It wont be as bad as the end of peak restrictions at Virgin at London Euston but could be interesting to see how passengers habits change after this change.
