Bringing back memories Barney? Yes indeed. What is worth noting about several of these now-defunct destinations is that they refer to churches or public houses. In the 1950s and 60s it was still considered perfectly acceptable to get the bus to the pub rather than drive or get a taxi as is the case now. The Ribble 52 from Spellow Lane to Sefton Church actually served both. If you didn't fancy the religious service you could always go into The Punch Bowl next to it. Ha! |
