It's worth noting that the legislation doesn't state that kids have to remain in school to 18, rather that they have to be in full time education or training.
Also worth noting that in 2006 (latest figures I can find), 76.2% og 16-18 year olds were in full time education or training, so only ~25% would be affected by this.


As far as I can see, the act will change nothing really - it won't stop people leaving for apprenticeships or college, only those who drop out and do nothing really, so it can only be a good thing.
