This morning I was on a 14 heading to Queen Square & a passenger came down from the top deck with her kids & told the driver there was a passenger sitting on the top deck with a knife in his hand, the driver said thanks for reporting it to the passenger then went upstairs to this passenger with the knife & told him to put it away, the driver then came downstairs & continued driving the bus as normal.

Anyway my question is what is the policy for dealing with someone with a knife onboard your bus??

with respect to the driver on my bus this morning to me it didn’t feel like he dealt with the incident in the right way, even after he’d spoken to the passenger with the knife I still felt at risk & so did many other passengers.

Thanks In Advance for any help given!

I appreciate this is a little off topic but nowadays a driver can’t even leave the cab without some sort of disciplinary with regards to what could’ve been a serious scenario like above. The driver is in a bit of a difficult situation as there really isn’t a lot they can do. They could file a report via the Ticketer, sending a message to control on the ticket machine explaining the situation under the option of miscellaneous/passenger abuse, call the police and then ring up the desk from the said depot of where the bus is from (which would be Green Lane) to await further instructions which would normally revert back to waiting for the police.
