I do know Rock Ferry is presently going through a driver shortage due to sickness , probably covid related which seems to be hitting the 471/2 rather hard at times . This as a consequence means the 1 and X1 are getting the better spec double deckers , you can always tell the difference between the 471/2 and X1/ 1 gold buses , by the destination displays as the gold coloured displays are harder to see than the white /silver ones.
