This issue of bus breakdowns and recovery has been raised before. Prior to deregulation, the MPTE operated two or three recovery vehicles within Merseyside with the radio call signs Dog and Ribble and Crosville also had their own such vehicles. I agree that it does seem inefficient to contract out such work to third parties by both SC and Arriva but it must make economic sense and be more cost-effective rather than retain their own.
