RE: Stagecoach Chester & Wirral
I have just been running some numbers and it is interesting. The average vehicle age when First sold to Stagecoach was 8 years, the oldest was 16 and the youngest 3. Fleet size was 43 The average vehicle age right now with Stagecoach is 7 years, the oldest being 12 and the youngest 1. Fleet size is 61 (These are ignoring Open Tops and Bluebirds) If you remove the relevant P&R vehicles the average age changes to 10 years then, 9 years now. Its actually closer than it looks at first glance, obviously Stagecoach have added vehicles which have generally been older which has brought that average down. One thing in common is that the only vehicles new under there respective ownership and were/is still in the fleet are vehicles bought for the P&R, otherwise they have been cascades or from the company being bought (Chester City Transport or First).
