It sure is, your right as by all accounts it's pretty goosed. Merseytravel claim that because it's in warm lay up that it's mechanically sound and could be returned to service with 4 weeks notice. Some how I doubt this, and quite clearly it's never been on Merseytravels agenda to return it service in an emergency as has quite clearly been proven and 2 separate occasions now. One thing that is certain and visible is the fact that it needs major work doing in relation to corrosion. It's a shame as it would be nice to see it get towed over to Laids but I imagine the only place it's ever likely to get towed to in the current climate is the breakers. Unfortunately the future of the ferries is just looking more and more uncertain year on year. |
