I wouldn't take what the M.E.N. has to say too literally - the V3 is their primary example of a service being "axed", despite the fact that the Leigh - MRI route is actually being increased - just with a different number. Local newspapers often try to sensationalise this sort of thing, preferring to incense than to inform.
