That's great news about the 559, restoring a link between Ashton & Bolton lost when Arriva chopped and changed the 620.

RE: Cumfybus
As for where Higher Green is Tez,its just off East Lancs Road, its the actual terminus right next to the Canal where the buses turn round near Astley Green Colliery if that helps.

Also as for the 559 extending to Ashton-In-Makerfield yes I do agree myself a useful link restored, yes it might not goto St Helens but 320s are regular from Ashton-In-Makerfield.

Good tender gains for Cumfybus but I did hear recently that Diamondbus were losing some Bolton tenders from another friend of mine but didnt want to post anything until I knew it was true

For undisclosed reasons, TfGM could not award this tender. I think it was to be numbered 687 but I am once again open for correction if anybody knows of any information to the contrary.

Higher Green is the bottom end of Astley where the colliery museum is - currently served by the Diamond 693 / 694.

Odd that the 553 is being extended to serve Higher Green rather than having a bus that serves one of the local centres that are Leigh or Tyldesley (or even Blackmoor given where the shops are in Astley).

RE: Cumfybus
I think I know where that is, Thanks Nicholas

I also looked at the 559 and 620 Timetables yesterday and worked out a one way trip would take about an hour 10 so am now assuming the Service will interwork with something in Bolton but am not sure what

They might have looked at extending the 553 through to Leigh but the last time this was done (with Maytree Travel) it was blighted by congestion issues.

You're right, the 559 will interwork with the 570, and during the morning and afternoon peak periods the 553, 559 and 570 will all interwork, as the 553 will continue to terminate at Boothstown after 16:00. Combined, these three routes will require five buses, one extra than the 4 needed now (553/559 needs 3 buses, 570 needs 1). In order to facilitate this, and with the opening of the new Bolton Interchange looming, the 570 will cease to operate the town centre loop. In fairness, most of this part of the route is already very well covered by the 500 Metroshuttle as well as most of the Bolton local services operated by First and Arriva.

RE: Cumfybus
So with the addition of this work Cumfybus are going to need at least 4 more Buses (1 for the 553/559, 1 for the 544 and 2 for the 484) Are more 12 Plate Hybirds going to move from Aintree to Bolton?

Plus another one for the 527.
