0912 Is not withdrawn its probably just off the road at the moment as its on the Official Arriva fleet list for May.

844, 846, 847 (to be Withdrawn 31/7/2016), 849, 852, 911, 912, 914, 915, 917, 918, 919, 920, 921, 922 all remain part of the fleet as of 1st of May anything missing is withdrawn.

Just to confirm this is all Welsh MPDs rather than just Bangor?

Assuming the following are the correct services that it operates, then I think it's:

13 - five
14/15 - five
24 - one
25 - one
26 - one
27 - two

which I make fifteen.

908 and 912 are both still in service, seen today on 67A and 78 respectively. (The only other two MPDs I saw were 911 on a 67 and 844 on a 27.)

RE: Arriva Buses Wales - Bangor Depot
Help - am I missing something obvious here?

During my research into Bangor's DAF/Lowlanders, I found that it appears not to be particularly unusual for them to turn up on the 5 (e.g. 4188, 4189), and I seem to recall in the days of the Olympians that I also saw a fair few photos of those on the 5/X5.

However, when I actually went on a 5 yesterday (on a Pulsar), I noticed that on the way through Conwy, it passes under a 12' 0" arch, which is a good foot and a half lower than a low-height double-decker (even Barton's unique Dennis Loline wasn't that low). Furthermore I can't see any alternative route out of Conwy for the westbound service that doesn't also go under a 12' 0" arch, since Upper Gate Street and B5106 Llanwrst Road (*) also have them, and Berry Street is one-way eastbound. So, other than going via the A55 tunnel and missing out six stops, I'm at a loss as to how these vehicles can be used on this route.

Can anyone put me out of my perplexity? Smile

(*) EDIT: Llanwrst Road is actually 12' 9", apologies

RE: Arriva Buses Wales - Bangor Depot
I think this answers the Conwy arch question - this photo makes it clear that the arch is a good deal taller than the 12' that it claims to be. So presumably a Lowlander fits, too. (Though possibly alarming in the process any upper deck passengers who happen to know how tall one is!)

Why the height is so severely understated by the signage, I don't know - maybe 12' is the maximum for a perfectly rectangular vehicle of the maximum possible width? Presumably, if they indicated a more realistic height, then they'd have to put markers on the arch itself, indicating the width within which that height is available; and maybe that is precluded by the historic monument status of the walls?
