RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North)
319361 failed at St Helens Central yesterday morning whilst working the 0635 LIV-WGN. The problem was a fault on one of the doors which the crew could not rectify. Passengers were de-trained to continue their journey on the following Preston service, which made additional stops at Garswood and Bryn. The unit moved forward to Wigan o return ecs to Liverpool. All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles |

Even though Northern are getting additional cascaded trains from GWR and Thameslink by December 2017 they are needed to cover extra services so the Pacers won't start to be withdrawn until 2018 when new trains and cascades from Scotrail start arriving. |

RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North)
The Pacers going was a political decision to try and appease the north to say we are getting rid of the older trains . The people in the north saw all the railway investment only ever going to the south east , even the south west must feel aggrieved at times as well. |

Indeed, in fact it is possible that if there is a stock shortage anywhere in the country around 2018/2019, the South West could in theory end up with Northern's Pacers as a stop gap. |

Probably subject to some work being done to make them compliant with disability regs for 2020. |

I did not say they was going to be , I was just following on from what St Helens Rider was saying , if there was to be a major slippage in the new units. |
