RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
The rumour mill is in full swing! Laird St new Enviro400s will now being to Green Lane as Mayor Anderson wants Green Lane 100% deckers. Instead, Laird St will be getting 55 and 06 plate B7TLs. Note, this is a RUMOUR, even the GM doesn't know about the situation himself! Daniel Christopher. |

Mayor anderson should do one seen as though he doesn't like buses as he wants all the buses shifted out of mann island and remove most of the bus lanes so id just ignore anything he says just to annoy him and prove a point to him. |

In which case, might it not be simply a commercial deal, whereby they sell the right to be the exclusive operator of local buses there? So GHA as well First then Stagecoach had an exclusive right to operate via Cheshire Oaks . |

Why would Arriva want to add any more when it would only add extra running time to the 2, for very little gain. |

The 2 is fine as it is, I think the whole thing is why Arriva doesn't operate the 1, despite it being a QBP. They also ran numerous services through Cheshire Oaks in the past which were all abruptly withdrawn or re-routed years ago. |

RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
It's ironic that Arriva are allegedly banned considering the management at Cheshire Oaks encouraged the extension of 4 Arriva bus services to be extended to Cheshire Oaks in 2006, the 59, 402, and 418/419 to increase patronage during the festive period and thereafter. They won't be "banned" it will be that Arriva won't operate to this tourist and shopper hotspot as they don't want to encroach on another operators territory, under the fear that another operator will do the same. For example, during the time Arriva extended their services to Cheshire Oaks, Firstbus operated to New Brighton on their 32/33 (both were pretty unsuccessful in the end). If Arriva operated to Cheshire Oaks, there is nothing to stop Stagecoach operating into New Brighton also, or for example GHA strengthening their North Wales corridor. Another thing to remember around the late 2000's is that Merseyside and Cheshire like most counties housed "the big 3" and it wouldn't have just been the local area that a bus-war may have broken out. It's a similar situation as to why Arriva don't operate a 20 after acquiring Merseyline, or Stagecoach Merseyside running a 81, 361 or a 432/433. |

RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
Around this time when the 418/9 went through to Cheshire Oaks was the only time the service was ever on time in Bromborough . Previously going to Mill Park the service would arrive at Bromborough Cross early and could on some days stand time of up to 5 minutes and going the other way could operate up to 6 minutes late which considering they was only operating from Mill park could only be described as appalling to say the least. If the 32/33 had still been operating when stagecoach had taken over im sure they would be vying for another QBP there as the 432/3 are a very captive market once you have left the confines of New Brighton behind . |

Actually, I heard that it was Jurgen Klopp who has insisted that the new Enviro400s be diverted from LS to GL so that the depot has sufficient capacity for when the new main stand is completed. If this sounds ridiculous it's because it is. Joe Anderson can no more influence Arriva's depot allocations than Roberto Martinez can the seating arrangements in the House of Lords. |

Quote:Instead, Laird St will be getting 55 and 06 plate B7TLs. If that was true and not a rumour it would mean that Speke would be getting up to 21 new deckers! All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles |
