These are minor typing errors that have been amended before the services begin operation and I suspect that the person responsible for these minor errors doesn't have the luxury of employing a proof-reader. If you are so outraged by this 'waste of taxpayers' money' may I suggest that an even more effective way of saving taxpayers' money is simply to not produce or display bus timetables anywhere, even on line. That policy would save a fair sum and enable local politicians to lower council tax charges.

That is a question I am unable to answer. Perhaps TfGM has a bigger budget and therefore more staff in its publicity department or possibly its staff are more experienced. Either way, it is likely to cost the local tax payer more than it does in Merseyside.

In my opinion, the best way to save money is to legislate so that timetable changes can only be implemented twice a year as is the case with rail operators. The current legislation only requires 56 days' notice and when an operator tweeks a service - often just by one or two minutes - it requires a full set of timetables and bus stop displays.

Twice a year is too little to be honest , things do change .

Four times a year might be better , more aligned to the old contract change dates .

I agree that things do change but if a commercial service has to have its timetable adjusted four times a year - as is the case with some services - I would suggest that the 'professionals' don't really know what they are doing but what do they care as it is the local taxpayer who pays for the reprinting of timetables etc. The cost to the operator is a mere £56 to register an amendment.

There was a time when PTEs produced an annual timetable book for its entire area but if that was tried now it would be obsolete before the ink had dried.

More to do with tender changes - the commercial services changes could then also then be worked around them dates .

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes
There is nearly a whole new new publicity team in Merseytravel, 2 out 3 members left at Easter, so the new ones are still learning and training. A couple of odd mistakes on the website which is easily corrected and doesn't actually impact anyone isnt really a big mistake in the grand of schemes is it? Given all the bus, train, ferry, maps & other literature that has been produced the last few months, cant say ive seen that many other than the 5/6 on the website that have already been corrected before being printed your making out its been going on all the time and they dont know what the there doing so be careful bbb its verging on slanderous ("they" are actually human beings and everyone makes mistakes), how do you actually know every single timetable at TfGM is correct and they dont ever make a mistake?

Another thing that gets me is why all the component parts of Arriva Merseyside can not have all the commercial service changes on one date , rather than spread across various dates in the year.

I know it would be hard work on the hard pressed publicity staff to get all the timetables online and printed , but im sure it can be done .

We could say the same for Stagecoach as well.

Why is there two versions of the 320 timetable printed a useless Merserytravel one which only goes upto the boundary and the Arriva one i wish Merseytravel didn't have such a narrow view on life sometimes as it affects there own people too

Bring Back Arriva Skelmersdale

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes
Just because i am pointing out the regular Mistakes that are cropping up on the Merseytravel Website does not mean i am *Slandering* Merseytravel at all, Your not going to sit there and sing the praises of every company all the time as that would be daft, Its like going to a Hotel and telling them everything you liked but not telling them things you did not like..

Going on i found another Mistake, the 19:35 10A Trip from St Helens to Liverpool on a Sunday is missing from both the online and paper copy of the Timetable, It took me and Scania 1996 a look on the Arriva Website to make sure this trip exists, At the end of the day i have no problem with Merseytravel, just there has been a high number of mistakes over the last few months
