RE: Merseyrail
Laird street may have provided vehicles for the Wirral but it seems the Liverpool side struggled a bit to get buses .

Arriva did Chester/ The Port Lines and Happys Als where doing bits and bobs on the rest of the lines, both Rail Replacements where pulled over an hour before Trains stated running, The way Merseyrail dealt with this was an utter shambles, hopefully should this happen again they do better

A unit had failed on the level crossing at Maghull yesterday morning completely blocking both the railway and the road it took well over an hour to get the unit moved!

99% of it.

It only missed Hooton Bay to Hooton P3 and Birkdale No2 sidings (this one was due to NR not being able to pull the points over)

Left 2 1/2 hours late but arrived back 3 early. Some very slick working from The Merseyrail Ops and NR teams.

Reading the article , there going to look at the financial case for the station in the next fiscal year starting in april.

There will have to be some outside money involved , it will get built but the answer is when though .

RE: Merseyrail
I think re-opening St. James station will be an excellent idea. I think it would provide a significant boost for that area of the city centre. I hope it does re-open but I don't think it will be for at least another 3-5 years. As Wirralbus says - there may have to be outside investment but with the growing amount of businesses in the Baltic Triangle I don't think outside investment would be too difficult to source

Very exciting times on the Merseyside transport scene for both rail and bus enthusiasts

RE: Merseyrail
To be honest this station at St James should really come before the other big contender for money Maghull North .

Maghull North would probably take some pressure off Maghull and its very congested car park there .

RE: Merseyrail
I agree - I think St. James should come ahead of these as the Baltic Triangle is developing rapidly and I think a station in the area would be very well used and extremely beneficial. I didn't know of plans for a new station at Maghull North but I think this would be an area that would also benefit from a railway station as well as the proposed new station at Vauxhall

Interesting times ahead!
