Trident 0811 (L80 BUS) and the Condor were the last buses to operate the 168 last night. Not yet reported is that the Solo SR has been sold (with its original plates). The Tempo has reverted back to its original plates and is awaiting sale. View my new Flickr Updated! |

Interesting! So it's got more in common with a Dart than an RM. Sounds a bit like a wolf in sheep clothing! I've heard some RMs have been re-powered with IVECO or Scania engines, which is a pity really as it takes away some of their originality. Original factory-fresh examples with good history are worth an absolute fortune! |

Very few "original" Routemasters are around, due to the way they were overhauled at Aldenham. When they entered the works the bus was split into three units, the body, front running unit and rear running unit. At the other end of the works, three completed bits were put back together to make a bus, but not necessarily the three bits that went in together. Also a bus didn't always come out with the number they went in with. A long time ago a saw a photo of two buses with the same fleet numbers and registration numbers. One going in for overhaul and one coming out. LT had a special dispensation to do this. As a result some fleetnumbers vanished for years. The ones like the Peoplesbus one that got the Cummins/Allison conversion seemed to be the most common. Much nicer than a Dart to ride on! I personally like the Scania engined ones, they sound really good. RM1289 owned by Aintree Coachline is a Scania one. SD. |
