Roadworks start on the 1st March and will finish at the end of July. The bridge won't be closed for the entire time traffic coming away from Ashton will be able to use the bridge at times.

The diversion is up Willshaw Lane then down Henrieta street into Ashton the back way. I'm guessing it will add around 10 minutes to journey times so it's going to be a grim few months.

Thanks for the info. It does bring the 168/9, 409/419 quite close to school though, so it could be quite helpful.
mayneway this still isnt offical poss route is boodle st / turner lane (and possibly lordsfield and cranbourne rd for small vehicles eg 419) only closing stop by ikea (first still in convo with tfgm about this)
please can we try to stick to stuff that is official so when we are correctly told then we can inform others of facts

FACT
According to the Stagecoach driver I was talking to on the 169 this morning Stagecoach should be using the diversion I've mentioned above and the information should be added to their website in the coming days. This is the STAGECOACH MANCHESTER thread so im referring to the route the 168/169 will probably take. I haven't mentioned First.

The feeling is that during the roadwork's Oldham Road beyond Wilshaw Lane will be utter gridlock especially southbound heading towards Ashton so TfGM came up with this diversion so any traffic shouldn't affect bus services.

I don't just post random speculation. I live on Oldham Road and we are in daily contact with Tameside Council and TFGM about how these road works will affect us, including what diversions local bus services will take.

I was waiting for the 76 to Oldham at around 3.20 PM and 17631 turned up, you'd think if there having to put Enviro400's on the 142/3 that a Magic bus Dennis Trident would be on the 142/3 rathe than the 76! Anybody got a reason why there was a magic bus on the 76?
17631 replaced 10047 at 830am due to the fact the heaters were not working and the bus felt like the arctic!!!!

19454 was operating the 142 this morning Manchester bound in Didsbury at 0745.

So......the Megarider tickets for Magicbus are cheaper than the regular Stagecoach. If I had a Magicbus Megarider ticket & saw the 142 coming & it was a regular Stagecoach Enviro400 I would think I can't put my hand out to stop it as I don't have the correct ticket, but...........surely if I did, the driver would have to accept my ticket because the bus should be a Magicbus. Would I be right? I suppose the same question can be asked about the two Spectra's. How is one supposed to know?

Would you like the rest of our old Enviro400s as well? But in return, we want some nicer buses. Maybe some ALX400s?

I shouldn't really complain as it does make a nice change from the usual enviro400's and everybody knows that the Dennis Trident is the best thing Stagecoach ever bought.

I saw 47002 on 513 today, which means it must be based at Middleton (mentioned a few days ago).

Continuing the Enviro400 on Magic Bus routes, Enviro400 was operating the 143 this morning.
