Last time I travelled on these services 2x 3 cars were full and standing, so hopefully TPE see sense and make them all 8 cars, with an option to run to/from Glasgow and Edinburgh by combining/splitting at Carstairs

RE: First Transpennine Express
Think that as the price of petrol and diesel has increased over the years people have started to migrate to the trains even with fare increases for the longer distances .

One good change is that when operating in multiple formation these 350's will have through connections unlike the class 185's which were built without through connections which i have always thought to be a mistake .

I agree they should have been built with the gangways. I also think it was a mistake making 3 car trains, personally think the transpennine network would have benefited from 4 and 5 car trains.

They did look at the feasibility of building extra coaches but the Government of the day said NO.

Big problem with Four car sets is that some journeys would still have struggled with four cars , with double length sets not being able to fit on some platforms .

Does anybody know the length of a BR Mark 2 against a Class185 vehicle .

Unlikely to be 8 car formations as they will probably require eight for an hourly service and they are only getting ten.

Barring a last minute cancellation, First TransPennine Express drivers are set to go on strike on Tuesday (5 November) and next Saturday (9 November):

Quote:First TransPennine Express proposed industrial action

First TransPennine Express drivers who are members of ASLEF have voted to take industrial action on Tuesday 5 November and Saturday 9 November.

Should this action go ahead, it will cause disruption to the rail network on those days. Passengers are therefore advised to prepare by visiting http://www.nationalrail.co.uk or calling 08457 48 49 50 to check that alternative services are available to them. Rail services in general are also expected to be much busier than usual. For more details on the industrial action, visit http://www.tpexpress.co.uk/industrialaction/

Should the strike go ahead, the following services would run:
*Manchester-Leeds-York: half-hourly service between 6am and 6pm Manchester Piccadilly, Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Leeds with an hourly service continuing to York via Garforth. A couple of extra journeys in the early hours running to/from Manchester Airport. Stalybridge only served at peak times.
*Manchester-Stockport-Sheffield: Hourly service between 7am and 7pm with occasional drop to two-hourly service. Dore & Totley only served at peak times
*Manchester Airport-Piccadilly-Preston-Edinburgh/Glasgow/Blackpool North/Barrow: Hourly service between Manchester Airport and Preston via Piccadilly, Oxford Road, Bolton and Chorley. Trains continue every 2 hours to Edinburgh via Lancaster, Carlisle and Lockerbie. Services to/from Barrow reduced to 2 journeys. Services to/from Blackpool North reduce to one/two journey
*Windermere-Oxenholme: Hourly service with one journey running to/from Preston

The revised service from Manchester Airport to Scotland via Wigan from 8th December will start with Class 185s as the 350/4s are unlikely to be available.

350401 was transported north yesterday, it's still in base grey livery. May now be stored at Ardwick or Crewe?

350231 has took over driver training turns from 350252.
