Manx Transport Enthusiasts (MTE) is a new bus preservation group that has been set up on the Isle of Man. They are based at the former Protours depot at Summer Hill Currently in the fleet are Isle of Man Road Services Tiger Cub 20 WMN-6, Tiger 34 HMN-787, Olympic 84 MMN-302, Leopard 97 697-HMN along with Ribble Leopard 665 MAN-665-D and Ulsterbus Leopard towbuses 4107 CCZ 5919, 4108 SCZ 2658 and 4199 KCZ 4583. At present 97 and 665 are based in England to be used at bus rallies |

It has been confirmed that ex Merseyside Jumbo Atlantean MAN-3460 will be the next vehicle to join the fleet at Summer Hill It will be the first double deck vehicle to enter the Manx Transport Enthusiasts fleet with a move from Jurby to Summer Hill expected in the next fortnight depending on availability of volunteers. I will post further updates on the move and also MTE in general after my visit to Summer Hill this Sunday |

Been a while since I've posted an update. Ribble Leopard 665 has returned to the island and is now at Summer Hill having spent time in the UK attending bus rallies - the most recent being the Trans Lancs on September 1st. Merseyside PTE "Jumbo" Atlantean 1204 (XKC 831K) is now also based at Summer Hill and it is currently the only double deck vehicle in the MTE fleet having arrived a couple of months ago Manx Transport Enthusiasts is also now a registered charity and plans to open a transport memorabilia shop in the very near future - this will be staffed by MTE volunteers |

Another update from Summer Hill The latest entrant into the ever growing Manx Transport Enthusiasts fleet is Ulsterbus Leyland Leopard 285 MFZ 9840 (ex AXI 285). 285 is currently based in the UK and is planned to attend the Nocturnal Heart of the Pennines event at the end of next month Scrapping of ex Portmouth Atlantean 144 CMN-44-C (ex 330 UOR 330T) has now been completed with the engine being retained and placed into storage at Summer Hill |

New addition Ulsterbus Leopard 285 left Belfast yesterday and is now MTEA's UK-based bus. Leopard 97 which was the UK-based bus has now returned to the Isle of Man arriving in the early hours of this morning from Heysham. 285 is planned attend a rally at Halifax next month which is thought to be the last event that MTEA will attend this year MTEA are pleased to announce that we have received a grant from Manx Heritage Foundation which will be used to continue our work in transport preservation In other news our shop - Tram Junction - is due to open very soon. I will post more information when it becomes available. Stay tuned for more updates! |

The Tram Junction shop opened on Saturday 12th October. The next day Leopards 97 697-HMN and 665 MAN-665-D (DRN 665D) took part in a drive up to Laxey to take MTE members to visit the shop Ulsterbus 285 will be attending the Nocturnal Heart of the Pennines rally this weekend - which will be the last rally MTE attend this year |

The latest vehicle to join the residents at Summer Hill is Tours Isle of Man Bedford OB 1949-MN. The second - 1950-MN - is due to arrive shortly |

Ex Portsmouth Atlantean 134 CMN-34-C (320 UOR 320T) is now part of the Manx Transport Enthusiasts fleet. It is the second double decker to join the fleet alongside Merseyside PTE 1204 Ribble Leopard 665 is currently touring the UK and recently attended the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust running day. MTE will be making further appearances at rallies this year including Totally Transport |
