Yesterday First ,
The first train out of Ellesmere Port to Liverpool after this incident was the 1949 from Ellesmere Port .

Today Second ,
There is presently a points failure affecting Southport Station and services are subject to disruption.

RE: Merseyrail
this afternoon points went again and trains terminated at hillside. services resumed at approx 16:40. the points at southport are quite old and i think that they should be removed and replaced by new ones. northern rail did this replacement between wigan wallgate and southport last year i think but correct me if im wrong.

I do think that sooner rather than later there is going to have to be a major remodel of the southport approaches due to the large amount of points failures that are now occurring.

As i speak the service is just starting to recover from another problem at Southport.

Wigan Wallgate - Southport is not actually part of the Merseyrail area , the only station on that line that falls in Merseyside is at Meols Cop , in the deep distant past this station had a third rail connection to Crossens which necessitated a reversal at Meols Cop it was a busy location , not like it is now .

Currently no service between Hooton and Ellesmere port due to an overhanging tree rail replacement bus service currently being sought.

RE: Merseyrail
Rode on 507021 today for first time in a while, still a great unit, unlike Monday when I rode 508130 which is a clunky, rattly poor unit! Wink

Does anyone know why 507002 has been out of service? It's been around bhead depot for a short while now...

RE: Merseyrail
If 130 is rattly and poor who knows what sheds like 114 and the truly awful 136 are like, the latter being one of the worst units on the entire network.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

RE: Merseyrail
507002 has had its fair share of trouble since returning. Noticed 508143 stabled in disgrace at Kirkdale last week with a similar flashing red light to the one 507002 has at Birkenhead. 508143 has certainly been a troublesome unit over the years, especially when it was freshly refurbished.
