RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot

Mersey Ferries is one of the Main Private Hires LS do. 4002 had a tacho fitted when it arrived at Speke for Private Hires

It was quite common to see 3304T out and about too with ribbons from mirrors to grille with a bouquet of flowers on the front and 'Wedding Bus' on the destination- back when LS still had proper buses that is.

Its just being in the right place at the right time, and knowing the right people to get a photo!

That means there is also a private hire fleet at Bootle which also should have a rail replacement fleet .

Having seen the allocations from Bootle in the past they tend to vary from what ever is left in the depot, like earlier in the year they where using Darts, VDL's and Enviro400's on the Southport line.

At the moment most emergency rail replacements seem to be on the Wirral between Hooton and Chester / Ellesmere Port and Birkenhead North and New Brighton lines .

On the Northern the most prone areas seem to be Hillside - Southport in that case its ask Bootle first then go cap in hand to the other depots.

rail replacement and normal schools dont come under the tacho rules as they dont require a tacho fitted but if its a school trip then it would need one fitted.
