RE: Stagecoach Merseyside - Gillmoss Depot
You know what? Seeing as cumbria09 and myself keep getting told we're wrong, and because you lot all seem to think you can run a company more effectively than trained, full time people, why don't you apply for Operations Manager/Director/Advisor at Gillmoss?! Either that or start writing into Stagecoach with all your brilliant ideas. We've explained enough the logic behind these things, and tbh I think its quite pathetic that - as a community - you can't grasp that. London Tridents aren't worth converting - the amount needed to convert them to S/D is more than they're worth on paper. Plus the fact that most of the examples currently available are either knackered or the short 9.9m wheelbase, which you'd hate for capacity reasons! I won't say anything about the ticketing, as I have no real knowledge, but if I can understand what's valid and what's not, then it can't be too difficult! |

I think it's quite pathetic that people like yourself mbonwick can't accept someone's opinion. Lets just look at it this way, do you even get the buses? No. So I suggest you keep you're little thoughts to yourself. Who even said about ideas? It's simple common knowledge that most if not all routes inherited from GTL were infact "double deck", ah anyway what's the point as I can see in your world passengers should cope with standing loads so yep I'll leave it at that who said you were wrong? nobody. Yeah exactly Been hating Urban 90's since 2001 |

RE: Stagecoach Merseyside - Gillmoss Depot
There is a simple reply to that, Stagecoach do not give a damn about capacity in this city nor do they give a damn about QBPs. SPDs are now a seemingly daily allocation to the route along with awful PX55 Darts. These are woefully inadequate as are the 9 Tridents which are still breaching the QBP anyway and as a result Stagecoach look really poor alongside Arriva. You can't seem to grasp that capacity is an issue within this city especially on Stagecoach routes due to poor buses used on services. Without travelling on them regularly, like many of us do, it's hard to even justify Stagecoaches half hearted attempt at a token 9 deckers. Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

RE: Stagecoach Merseyside - Gillmoss Depot
I don't need to travel on any service to know why a certain sort of vehicle is allocated. As we've said many times before, if the services were making enough money they'd have bigger vehicles. The fact that they don't means they aren't making enough money. Full buses does not mean profit, especially with BSOG cuts. Therefore companies cannot justify the expenditure. I think you lot down in Liverpool forget how nice you have it - try coming to Cumbria where there are occasional capacity problems, but we still have Olympians and B10Ms in frontline service! Enthusiasts aside, you have to admit that darts/Enviro300s give a better impression than B10Ms or B10BLEs. |

I wouldn't "hate" a 9.9 m decker at all - it's a start. As outlined above, the lion's share of Stagecoach Merseyside's inherited fleet was deckers, every single one of which was replaced with a wholly inadequate and apparently cheap Dart. Now we're even losing our valuable older full-size single deckers in favour of virtually identical Darts with poor interiors and nowhere near enough capacity. Each and every one of Stagecoach's city centre serving routes need at least full-size single decks and for the 10A, 20, 21, 82 and 86, 9.9 m double deckers as a minimum requirement. As outlined above, Arriva trounce Stagecoach on both South Liverpool QBP routes and with consistent breaches, arguably the North Liverpool ones as well.

Have fun explaining to the accountants then why you think they should spend more than the 9.9m Tridents are worth converting them! How do you know the darts aren't just a stop gap measure? To me it screams of improving the business case for when new vehicles arrive. |

You said we'd "hate" 9.9 m deckers for "capacity reasons" which is absolute nonsense. I don't think anyone on here would prefer the status quo with extremely overcrowded buses regularly failing to meet demand.

RE: Stagecoach Merseyside - Gillmoss Depot
The Darts don't give a better impression at all, if you think that then god knows what the Arriva fleet gives off, far superior buses in every aspect. You clearly have no idea about Liverpool or its routes at all, the Darts are tired and awfully presented in general and are regularly leaving Liverpool crammed full of passengers, this is no lie either. 42 seater buses are just unacceptable for the 20/1, 82/6 and other routes Stagecoach operate on. They really have no excuse on the first two as they have no competition on these services from Arriva anyway. There are still people to this day who let Stagecoach go by to use a far superior bus operated by Arriva. At least their allocations on the 82 and 86 are usually always double deckers. Arriva can do it yet Stagecoach can't, Arriva can even do it on "lesser" routes too. At the end of the day many on here are regular users of buses from an actual passengers point of view, not someone who thinks management are right in every decision by bringing in more crappy Dart SLFs to replace older buses. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Tridents are shipped out soon under some crappy excuse as that's all they can offer. Poor excuses for poor service. Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

The point is your suggestion that we would hate any sort of capacity improvement is complete and utter bullsh*t, and an extremely poorly thought-out response. At the end of the day, there ARE a lot of deckers available, with Stagecoach releasing various Tridents from London which have gone to independent operators (including PeoplesBus right here in Liverpool, whose Tridents incidentally look a lot better than Stagecoach's do), as well as still others for scrap. There is absolutely no excuse - how Merseyside apparently cannot "justify" new deckers while an operation with a much smaller potential for passengers, e.g. Preston, can, is anyone's guess.
