RE: Rugby World Cup 2015
Think The Olympic Stadium will eventually make it onto the shortlist . This stadium to me is more befitting a National Stadium than Wembley actually is Wembley exudes Football Stadium these days . I dont know what it is about the Millenium Stadium that stadium also has the feel of something special as well , I think it is national pride. |

What a mess! Sunderland - can't see Japan v Fiji pulling the Mack'ems out in their thousands. And nothing for Devon & Cornwall, perhaps the two counties where rugby regularly pulls more spectators than the beachball divers. |

RE: Rugby World Cup 2015
The exclusion of Welford Road is ridiculous. To include the King Power Stadium, as an alternative, just rubs salt into the wound of every body associated with the Tigers. Having been to some memorable games a this world-renowned Stadium, the atmosphere generated is second to none. I sincerely hope the outcry from all corners of the Rugby community in this country highlights the calamity of the error to the RFU. Let finances be put aside and bring the Rugby to where it is felt the most in Leicester, that most certainly is not the nearby dedicated football stadium. Baffling decision. |

I wonder if it is the capacities of some of the grounds that is the bug bear for some of those places you have noted that goes against them. |

RE: Rugby World Cup 2015
Capacity could well play a part: Leicester City's Filbert Way seats over 32,200 while Welford Road lags behind with a capacity of 24,000. It does seem a shame to exclude one of the most famous English rugby stadiums, but I assume it comes down to putting bums on seats.

Filbert street was demolished years ago , but your point is still valid. However, why stuff more money into football when rugby needs to keep as much of it as it can. Will Canada v Romania really sell 30-odd thousand tickets? |

I can't stand sponsored stadium names so tend to avoid them.

Didn't know that was new stadium's initial name - I know it still as Walker Stadium from my couple of visits - if we are going to stick with oroginal names I suppose we should still calling then Leicester Fosse FC as that was their original name back in 1880's rather than all the new-fangled name changes over past 130 years. |

RE: Rugby World Cup 2015
As I've said, it's sponsored stadium names I dislike, be it the Emirates Stadium (Ashburton Grove as a mate always called it) or the Sports Direct Arena (now happily back to St James' Park). I couldn't care less what Leicester's original name was - they're Leicester City these days and there's nothing wrong with that.
