RE: Merseyrail
I am due to ride a 777 on February 8th in the Chester area. Details are fluid, but it may be Ellesmere Port - Hooton - Chester or even Chester - Birkenhead and back, depending on what buses I feel like riding. |

With Cressington platforms under the road bridge with limited platform width, the doors under the bridge can’t be opened so have to be kept closed by the driver. |

RE: Merseyrail
I did indeed ride some 777s yesterday. I liked the smooth ride but preferred the seating in the 507/08 classes. I shall post my itin shortly, which unusually featured more trains than buses. |

RE: Merseyrail
Recently, with news that Serco-Abellio may potenially be able to extend their 25 year term (initially awarded in 2003 and due to expire in 2028), the RMT union has made a call for Merseyrail to be brought into public control, considering the fact that is what the Metro Mayor technically wants to do in the future. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liv...c-31137267 |

RE: Merseyrail
The final Class 777 (777035) yet to enter service has started its fault-free running tests in the past few days between Sandhills and Southport, ahead of it being accepted. |

RE: Merseyrail
That’s happened earlier than I thought, as it required new wheel sets |

Perhaps they used the wheel sets from 777004 or 777008 since they both appear to be out of action long-term. Did 008 have a fire incident sometime last year? I think both are now being used as spare parts donors for the other units. |

I think it was 777008 that ran into the “buffers at Rock Ferry never heard about a fire, though. |
