The British rock guitarist John Sykes, who played with Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy, has died aged 65.

A statement on his website said Sykes "passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer".

Singer and actress Marianne Faithfull has died at the age of 78. The singer had previously suffered multiple health problems, including bulimia, breast cancer and emphysema caused by decades of smoking.

Journalist and TV presenter Henry Kelly has died aged 78, Kelly was a journalist who later pivoted to light entertainment, hosting TV game show Game For A Laugh and Going For Gold in the 1980s and 90s. He also presented programmes on BBC Radio 4, LBC and Classic FM.

Oscar-winning US actor Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa and their dog have been found dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Hackman was aged 95, his wife aged 63.

Grammy-nominated R&B artist Angie Stone has died after a car crash, aged 63. Stone was fatally injured when a van she was travelling in overturned in Alabama early on Saturday following a performance. The artist, who was behind songs like No More Rain (In This Cloud) and Wish I Didn't Miss You, was nominated for three Grammys over her career. She started out in the 1970s as a member of the female hip-hop trio The Sequence.
