RE: Dublin & Ireland
Two quick pictures of extra capacity for a Sunday leading up to Christmas: VT48 St Stephen's Green 15 December 2024 - The VTs don't be out every Sunday, so the extra capacity they bring would be welcomed by those going home from the City Centre. EW79 Parkgate St 15 December 2024 - The 99 is usually the home of the EA single deckers but the Phoenix Park has a number of events at the weekends that draw extra demand. |

RE: Dublin & Ireland
Took a spin down to Athlone today. Busy local network and also busy with Regional and Local Link routes. EA8 Southern Station Road, Athlone 30 December 2024 followed by: 242LD186 Southern Station Road, Athlone 30 December 2024 10WH8978 Golden Island 30 December 2024 - Flagline route with minimal livery. VB445 Athlone Bus Station 30 December 2024 - the 70 was a famous route going from Dundalk to Galway - VP333 was a dedicated bus on it for a time. It has slowly reduced in lenght and has been effectively replaced by other more frequent routes such as the 190. 222D951 Athlone Bus Station 30 December 2024 - A recent addition is the 850 to Roscrea. 5 got on at the station which is good. EA50 Athlone Garage compound 30 December 2024 - I finish with this image. Bus parked up for the break, well not quite, they are the new Sligo electric fleet and are here in Athlone for running in. The lack of chargers in Sligo is an issue at present! Wishing everyone a healthy and happy 2025. |

RE: Dublin & Ireland
Hello, first post of 2025. I was in Manchester last weekend observing the latest Bee Network changes. The yellow livery doesn't look good on a mucky day! Today I took a quick trip to Drogheda. As I have mentioned before, there is a local town network here in this large town, by Irish standards. Services have increased in recent years with bus services as far as Athlone, and the 24 hour 101, Express 100X and a number of more local routes providing plenty to see. Bus Éireann operate from their own depot and a sub garage is shared with another operator. The 101 fleet is based there as it is a tendered service and I suppose someone else could operate it in the future. VWL318 Dublin Road, Drogheda 18 January 2025 - The VWLs have replaced most of the Streetlies and are from Galway, Limerick and Cork. Drogheda has a surprising number of L - Limerick registered buses... VWD50 Marsh Road, Drogheda 18 January 2025 ... including double deckers. LC304 & LC325 Drogheda Bus Station 18 January 2025 - Used on regional services. They were mostly on the 101 but the VDL double deckers have replaced them. LC324 Marsh Road, Drogheda 18 January 2025 - but sometimes it all gets muddled up and a coach appears on a town service! |

RE: Dublin & Ireland
Just the two pictures but they show how the bus scene continues to evolve: SG23 Heuston 22 January 2025 - On of the last few SGs in DB livery. Looking well. SG580 Heuston 22 January 2025 - The 145 is due to cease this weekend and be replaced with the E1 and E2 over the core section of its route. The 4 will be diverted to serve Heuston from the City Centre and as can be seen here, the bus stop has already changed. |
