Former U.S. President Donald Trump has been convicted on all 34 counts of falsifying business records, he will be sentenced on July 11th, however he is more likely to receive a fine than a prison sentence.

This trial marks the first time in U.S. history that a former or serving U.S. President has been convicted of a crime, and also in the middle of his 2024 presidential campaign, as a Republican nominee, having previously served as POTUS from 2017 to 2021

The 2024 General Election has culminated in a landslide victory for Labour, Kier Starmer has been elected as the new Prime Minister bringing 14 years of Conservative power to an end.

Additionally, Merseyside is now fully made up of Labour MPs, as they have managed to gain the Southport seat for the very first time, succeeding Conservative MP Damien Moore.

Joe Biden, the current POTUS has announced that he is pulling out of the presidential race, four months before Americans head to the polls.

He has subsequently endorsed Kamala Harris as his nominee - He will, however remain as president for the remaining six months of his term.

Seven Labour Party MPs have been suspended from the party alongside the whips for six months for breaching parliamentary rules by voting in favour of the SNP's motion of scrapping the two-child benefit limit. One of the seven MPs suspended is Ian Byrne, the MP for Liverpool West Derby (in which he represents my local constituency!)

Zoe's Place have announced that their West Derby hospice will close at the end of the year. The lease on the facility where the charity originated from when founded in 1995 is due by the middle of next year. Plans were approved last month to build a new hospice in West Derby Village, but the charity has confirmed due to escalating costs and the current economical climate that construction will not be going ahead.
