Go Goodwins
RE: Go Goodwins
Apparently a new licence and rescue plan is in place by Go Goodwins who have put forward a director and once the new licence is approved ‘Mayne Travel’ will be part of the Goodwins Group.
Announcement won’t be made until the licence is approved.

RE: Go Goodwins
A little chain of events, albeit unrelated.

Maynes sold their local bus services to Stagecoach and later sold their remaining coach operation to Go Goodwins. GG had sold their bus operation to Rotala but later re-expanded, in some cases by regaining routes from part of the operation sold to Rotala.

RE: Go Goodwins
Buses and coaches go hand in hand. sometimes coach work dry's up and people seeing local buses that also do coaches make people feel safe booking with them. always get me that stagecoach / first / arriva dont have coaches in their fleet for private work in Manchester as they missing out on work.

It’s the very reason Goodwins rebranded the bus side of the business as ‘little Gem’ so there was no visual link between the coach side and the bus side of the operation. He stated at the time people left bad reviews on line when their bus was 10 mins late and it put people off booking a coach holiday with them.

First Student was effectively a private hire scheme based on the model that was working well for them in North America. OK it meant a coach used on a school contract wouldn't also be taking the pensioners to bingo but they were still hired out for school trips and other occasional school work like transporting primary school kids to the leisure centre for swimming.

Stagecoach Manchester have a large fleet of coaches at one of their depots. OK they are for Megabus but they could use them for other purposes if they wanted.

That's the thing I never got about GHA Coaches. They used the Vale Travel brand on some bus services but the GHA Coaches brand on others. It often meant a bus with the wrong livery appeared on the route. It would have been far simpler to have one brand for coaches and another for buses.

Incidentally the Go Goodwins brand is no longer used for coach holidays:

"Together with the re branding as Seemore Travel Coach Holidays, because your time is the most precious gift. After extensive research and customer feedback, we decided that we need to stand out from the crowd, as we are not your usual coach holiday company.

The vast majority of hotels that we use are four star and most have spa facilities/swimming pools. All our holidays are with class coaches, which really are top of the range, with seats around tables, tinted panoramic windows, air conditioning and of course a toilet for your piece of mind.

We hope you find a coach holiday of interest, and look forward to welcoming you on board soon.

Wes, Sally, Karen and the team at Seemore Travel Platinum Coach Holidays."

The Go Goodwins brand now appears to only be used for coach hire and their servicing/MOT facility.

The couple of Seemore coaches I’ve seen do carry the Goodwins name so it’s quite easy to associate them with the other, whereas with the buses apart from the legals and the GGG logo above the door it’s anyone’s guess.
