Passengers drive from Ormskirk, Aughton and Skem to park and take advantage of cheaper season tickets. I have even heard of people driving from Leyland to park at Maghull!!! That is helped by the fact that the M58/M57 motorway is just down the road from either maghull stations bringing in a very big catchment area. |

I think the M58 brings in more than the M57. I have read in our local paper the car park at Maghull North is now full, even though it has around 150 spaces (Maghull has around 250 at least and is second only to Hooton in size). It is going to get worse, as there are plans to construct 1600 new houses on the very eastern edge of Maghull going before Sefton Council soon. |

RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North)
There don't appear to be any pre-planned cancellations tomorrow - have the staff accepted commited and/or rostered Sundays? |

If its the case then somebody has to bite the bullet be it the Franchise holder whomever it will be down the line and the unions to sort sunday out once and for all. Sunday is an important day of the week now for franchises. |

11 'unplanned' cancellations currently showing on Journey check (at 12:20pm) - 4 due to an issue on the Knaresborough line, 2 due to a shortage of conductors and the remainder are due to a shortage of drivers. |

Although not good, it's a vast improvement on Northern's usual performance on a Sunday. |

The Mid-Cheshire ones (where it's 2 hours until the next service) are getting replacement buses operated by MP Travel and Destinations, the rest getting nothing. |

RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North)
But that's still an improvement on previous weeks - the trains cancelled beforehand didn't figure in previous weeks northern fail statistics. |
