Apparently a clause in the training agreement with ASLEF allowed drivers to choose lieu days without needing management approval so a lot of drivers picked 24 Dec and 31 Dec as their lieu days.

What a monumental farce. Mass planned cancellations today, including all Crewe-Manchester services, with passengers directed to the Liverpool trains - but they are all cancelled in journey check, apart from the 11.17 x Crewe but that is showing cancelled in RTT

According to journey check, the Liverpool - Blackpool service is making additional stops between Liverpool and Huyton. Surely given there's a replacement bus on the stopping service, it would make more sense for the Blackpool service to be all stops to Wigan. Suppose that's being too sensible!

Possibly due to pathing constraints or possibly because the person in control who made the decision doesn't know the area.

Leeds-Chester services making additional calls at Eccles and Patricroft.

Bank Quay to Lime St shuttle operating as normal.

Extra stops on the Blackpool's were due to the xx27 Lime St-Crewe services being cancelled

The only 142s I saw today were coupled to compliant sets, but plenty of 144s in Yorkshire working alone.

I wonder where the compliant 144 pacer was operating today.

Exemption order from DfT does not permit 142s to be used anymore, unless attached to a Sprinter. In the North West are also only supposed to be used on Hope Valley and Blackburn/Clitheroe services but the permitted routes is a 'gentleman's agreement' with TfN, rather than a legal requirement.

The non-PRM compliant Sprinters and 144s can continue to be used in single formation for the short term, although there are restrictions about which lines single 144s and 153s can be used on.

I am led to believe the following 142s are the last examples in use (Some others are apparently warm stored so can be reactivated if required)

142004, 142011, 142023, 142024, 142030?, 142035, 142036, 142041, 142043, 142045, 142047, 142051, 142055, 142058, 142061, 142078 and 142090
