The 500 needs to be speeded up between Liverpool and Liverpool South Parkway / John Lennon Airport to make that service more palatable to passengers who are being forced onto it from Runcorn .

This is going to be another case of people using the train to get to Runcorn and using the local bus network when they arrive there to complete there journey.

This could be considered as the operators getting in first and pruning the network before the LCR can get there teeth in properly , Arriva and Stagecoach are just by the looks of it going to keep there more profitable routes and anything marginal is going to find it hard to survive , dont be surprised if other routes in the LCR come under scrutiny very soon.

You have to look at the prospect of franchising with an open mind. The idea is that the agenda is set by the authority, not the operators. If the authority wants to enhance or recast the network it is their prerogative and not for the operators to dictate. If the operators choose to retrench, then they make stronger the authority's claim that regulation and local control of the network is necessary to ensure continuity of an adequate network.

With regard to the proposed changes to bus routes in Liverpool City Centre from January 2020, this seems to have gone very quiet?

The last post on the project was issued on 3 October, which suggested some peak time buses would now be retained. I've seen no further updates since this date.

City Centre bus review

Does anyone have any information they are able to share?

Results of the 30 (St. Helens - Chain Lane) consultation now up:

Arriva Sunday daytime service to be withdrawn with Sunday 12th January the last day of operation. An hourly service funded by Merseytravel will be introduced to replace it

So the Sunday evening frequency half hourly but daytime hourly - utter madness.

According to the Merseytravel website, the reason for the disparity is that one of the buses used on the evening 30 bus on Sunday is required for the Merseytravel supported Sunday daytime service on the 37

I would have thought this would have been a good opportunity to review the whole evening and Sunday service instead of running a more frequent service at a relatively quieter time of day.
