Arriva North West - Bootle Depot
RE: Arriva North West - Bootle Depot
Just had 2926 go past me, doesn't sound like a pulsar, sounds more like a dart.

Had that the other night. Think it's a hole in the intercooler making it sound dodgy. Signed it off like... Rolleyes

Aren’t the SB200s (on which the Commander is based on) also a Dart SPD clone like the SB120 being a Dart SLF clone as they sound like a Voith SPD Dart due to having the same gearbox

Just a curiosity, but how come the 4623-36 batch of Enviro400s rarely seem to get into Liverpool city centre? Are they dedicated to one or other of the semi "circular" routes (61?) as based on the two or three used on RR back in the Summer, they aren't branded?

RE: Arriva North West - Bootle Depot
Wouldnt say that they rarely get into the city centre and non are route branded. They are just spread across Bootle routes. Speaking of Bootle, 4425 has yet to be painted at all since new, with the rest of the Enviro400s in either new livery or the previous livery. Wonder if there is a reason for this, is 4425 the most reliable perhaps and they don't really want to lose it for a week or so.

You are correct in your observation. This batch was bought to replace Pulsars on the 52/52A but within months of delivery they were to be found on the 60-63 routes and the Pulsars reverted to the 52/52A. The main reason for this is the fact that, apart from being busy routes for most of the day, the 60-63 also serve several large secondary schools along their routes.

In truth, the only solution to this issue is for Bootle to receive more double-deckers. It was reported a few months back that Bootle was to receive ten from Speke but so far this has not happened.

It was in the depot newsletter back in June that we were due 15-plate Enviro400s for the 52s. It seems like that whole plan of movements has been shelved for now.
