Avanti, XC and TfW services will be diverted via Styal, while Northern services will either be terminated short or a replacement bus. For example, Buxton to Hazel Grove hourly train, Chester to Altrincham 2 hourly train and Stoke to Manchester hourly replacement bus service. I got caught out by that for Easter. I am therefore using National Express but from Manchester to London instead. |

Bit of an unusual post, as Google or the National Rail app will tell you that. It's had the Victoria service since the Todmorden curve opened in 2015, and the Headbolt Lane terminus station came about following the station's opening in 2023. |

RE: Northern Trains Ltd
Great work from Northern yesterday afternoon/evening on the Preston to Manchester services. With the engineering works there was only an hourly service and they decided to terminate a Blackpool North to Manchester Airport at Wigan North Western, with announcements only made after the train had left Leyland, when they had already cancelled the following service. With TPE services going through Wigan, rather than stopping there, passengers were advised to get the Avanti train to Warrington and sort out onwards services from there. |
